Monkey Harris has released a new KPDED2 file. This basically allows you to run dedicated public servers. In your server shortcut you just replace the kingpin.exe with the kpded2.exe.
KPDED2 fixes a number of bugs and security holes and also adds many new improvements.
The zipfile contains a very comprehensive readme which you will need to read and absorb all the information.
The readme does include some suggested Quick Start settings and most of the new default settings are fine so you wont need to change/add too many commands.
The main changes for me are:-
The allow_download_paks command means that clients are now able to download the client files for mods such as CTF and Power2 directly from the server. This is because these mods have their client files in PAK1 files.
You will also need the addcvarcheck command which adds a simple check for a client cvar. Checked when a client connects and when the 'checkcvars' command is used.
So if you run a CTF server you would need to add the line:-
addcvarcheck ctfver !* STUFF exec ctf.cfg
The allow_download_pics command allows the client to download levelshot pics directly from the server.
These commands are set to 1 by default so shouldn't need to be changed.
The set clientdir main command is for when running a mod that doesn't require any special client files (eg. PAKs), clients should be told to use their 'main' directory to avoid duplicate files in multiple directories.
Any changes you make need to be added to the relevant server.cfg file.

Jonez has released a beta of his new Bagman map called Team Barns beta.
This is a largish Bagman map with a farm style setting where the team's bases are two barns. There are horse stalls and another big barn/storehouse in the middle of the map where the money drop is. There are several ways to get to the enemy's base.
The map uses mostly custom textures from the old Soldier of Fortune game and there are plenty of weapons and other items. There are als several custom sounds you would hear around a farm.

Unfortunately the Steam button for Kingpin wont show up if it is banned in your country, such as Germany.
On Steam there is a sale, that includes Kingpin that is on sale with 30% off, for 6.99, until 6 February Steam time.
Just a reminder that we host a map pack containing all known Bagman maps which was compiled by Fredz.

Rember the days when there would be people playing most of the time and you could just start up GamespyLite and join a game :)
Well today I started up GSLite and there were two ppl in the Gangbang server so I grabbed another person and joined the game. Soon a couple more ppl joined and then a couple more. So for a while we had a good game going.
So if you're ever looking for a quick game and no one is in the servers you can check the chat in GamespyLite and see if anyone is there. Or go to [M]s Kingpin chat room and see if anyone is lurking around there.
Otherwise join the Luschen Botmatch server and play against bots and ppl might join you there. if you get enough then you can start a game up somewhere :)

Here is a death match map from way back in 2000 called Sewage Treatment (comakp1.bsp). As the name suggests the map is set in a sewage treatment plant.
It's a largish map with several areas and has ample weapons and items but it does only have 8 player spawns.
You can download Sewage Treatment (comakp1.bsp0 from here.
Just extract/unzip the files to your Kingpin folder.
Stroppa made a Gansta Custom Sounds pak which replaces the original Cypress Hill sound loops.
The songs (which are all instrumentals) are:-
Defari - Smack ya face
Dr. Octagon - Halfsharkalligatorman
Defari - Joyride
Dan the Automater - A better tomorrow
Gang Starr - Code of the streets
So for instance if you are playing on a multiplayer server you will hear one of these songs, instead of the default Cypress Hill ones, at the end of the map you have been playing.

Just extract the pak9 file to your kingpin/main folder.
If you already have a pak9 file in your main folder then extract the new pak9 to a temporary folder somewhere and rename it to another number such as pak2, pak3 etc which you don't already have. Then copy it to your kingpin/main folder.
