Ive wanted to do ships and planes for a while now
but never really had the brush stroking skills
it took and the fact that I was using an editor(Qoole)
that corrupted fancy geometry was most depressing.

This level started off as me wondering at 1am
if I could make a hollow/rounded hull for a ship
in the quake engine with my newly aquired QEradiant skills.

Next thing you know its 4am and most
of the layout and hull is done:)

The next day I went looking for pirate stuff
and lo and behold I found i was not the first
or to be the last to do this.

Danger mouse had made a pirate ship level
for Jedi Knight, I never played it.
I think I barely played JK if at all.

Then a few days later the Unreal Tournament Level Of The Week
was dmkgalleon, and I was surprised to say the least
to see it was pretty damn similar but Unreal is a easy
engine to make weird geometry like that so im sure the
guy had fun making it in Soft Image or Lightwave then
importing it within the hour.

This was a lot harder, built brush by brush, restricted by
the Quake1/2 engine's ancient geometry handling but
the visibility calc let me
make fairly complex areas bellow deck that nobody can match:)

Unzip kpdmpirate.zip into your Kingpin folder, with the directory option turned ON.
there is new textures, etc so they should all fold out like this:

kpdmpirate.bat (Run this to fire off KP with dmpirate and DM loaded)
main/maps.lst(this file overwrites the game one, it adds dmpirate to the DM map list)
main/maps/kpdmpirate.bsp
main/textures/newstuff(tga files)
main/sounds/world(wav files)
main/env/(Tga and pcx files)

* Running kpdmpirate.bsp *

If you let winzip overwrite the maps.lst file just
go host a multiplayer game and select kpdmpirate from the menu!

Either edit the properties of a Windows shortcut to include these commands
or create a batch file or run this a dos prompt

kingpin.exe +deathmatch 1 +map kpdmpirate

and if you want to connect to a server, you can add that:

kingpin.exe +deathmatch 1 +connect XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX

and if you want to host a game:

kingpin.exe +set listen 4 +map kpdmpirate +set deathmatch 1
