Now that you have created your terrain surface, it is time to do some texturing to it. The texture that it starts with is the Standard default texture that is set in QuArK's Configuration Settings unless you have set its own default texture in the same area. You could, just as easily selected your texture prior to creating the terrain all together. Sometimes this may be desirable as a base and other times it may be better to reapply it or use a different texture last or even during the creation process. Here we started with just the Standard default texture and will apply our actual terrain texture now that the <ref>../shaping</ref> has been completed.

As a general note, none of the Terrain Generator Selectors or the Texture Applicator will have any effect on terrain surface areas that are placed in a separate folder that is hidden by using that function which can be accessed using the
Edit menu-View Group on QuArK's main Menubar or by clicking the <g>LMB,</g> with the mouse cursor over that particular folder and selecting Group is hidden from the pop-up menu.

This feature is especially useful when working on terrain areas that are close to, above or below other sections of terrain.
